The End Times/The end of Days

The Age of Aquarius

About The Maya, The Long Count Calendar, and 2012
What does the Mayan Calendar have to do with 2012? Before answering this question, it's best to understand a little more about who the Maya were, and also what the Mayan Calendar is and how it works.

The Maya were an ancient Mesoamerican civilization that is noted for their advanced knowledge of science, astronomy, astrology, and mathematics, along with spectactular artwork, monumental structures such as pyramids and temples, a symbollic written language and complex calendrical systems. The Maya thought of time as being cyclical as opposed to strictly linear. The sacred Maya Long Count calendar is a chrnological count of days that span approximately 5,200 year period referred to as a "Great Cycle". The current Great Cycle, which the Mayans call the fourth creation, began around August 11, 3114 and, and comes to a completion around December 21, 2012. This date marks the ending of a cycle of 13 Baktuns which marks a period of great change for the universe and humanity.

Each "Baktun" in the Long Count is a period of 144,000 days. Thirteen Baktuns (one Great Cycle) is equivilant to 1872000 days!

More about 144,000, which has religious significance for Christians because of its use in the New Testament (Book of Revelation). It also has significence in other religious movements.

Winter Solstice, 2012, 11:11
The winter solstice marks the time of year where the sun reaches its lowest peak in the sky. This winter Solstice also marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. The winter solstice occurs around the 21st/22nd of December in the Northern Hemisphere, and 21st/22nd of June in the Southern Hemisphere. The 24-hour period of the day on which it occurs is known as midwinter. The exact time of the Winter Solstice represents rebirth and renewal. This day is very Important to many cultures and religions and is usually celebrated with festivals, gatherings, rituals or holidays. On December 21, 2012, (also the end of the Mayan Long Count Calendar) the Winter Solstice for that year occurs at 11:11 UT.

The Galactic Alignment
The Galactic Alignment is the alignment of the December solstice sun with the Galactic Equator. This alignment occurs as a result of what's known as the precession of the equinoxes. This Galactic Alignment occurs only once every 26,000 years. The ancient Maya also observed the astrological/astronomical cycle of the Precession of the Equinoxes.. During this 26,000 year cycle, the Earth transits through the twelve constellations of the zodiac. The Galactic Alignment was an important part of the Maya Long Count Calendar, which represents the transition from one great cycle or age to the next.

The Maya knew about the Galactic Center and the Dark Rift at the centre of the Galaxy. They symbolized this by the entity known as "Xilbalba", which also representing the "underworld" and transition of death and re-birth. Many Mayan creation myths and deities were related to the event and energy of the Galactic Center. On December 21, 2012, on the Mayan Calendar end date of the 13th Baktun, the solstice sun will cover the the galactic center, for the first time in nearly 26,000 years. The Maya called the "dark rift" in this area of the sky the "heart of heaven". A black hole is believed to exist at the very center.

There are different kinds of black holes that differ by size or mass. There are ‘stellar black holes’ (created by a massive star explosion, known as "a supernova"). Another type of black hole known as a Supermassive black hole is 10 thousand to 100 million times the mass of our own Sun. Most galaxies, including our own Milky Way, are believed to contain supermassive black holes at their centers. There is an extremely small probability that the Milky Way might collide with another galaxy that has a supermassive black hole in its center, and that the Earth might be affected. Beside the Solstice, another astronomical event will occur on December 21, 2012. A rare alignment referred to as a Star Gate, will take place at midnight. The Solstice sun will returns to it's original position, one being percisely positioned on a line between the earth and the center of the galaxy. This is a time when the effects of the Sun would bring about a tremendous flow of "amplified energy", perhaps opening a "star gate".

What is the Galactic Alignment?
About the Galactic Alignment (an alignment of the winter solstice sun and the Dark Rift) and 2012. This entire region of the heavens is targeted by the "cross" formed by the Milky Way and the ecliptic between Sagittarius and Scorpio. The Maya called this cross the Crossroads or the Sacred Tree This region is what astronomers call the nuclear bulge of the Galactic Center.
